Configure traffic sources
Map source macros, external IDs and cost before generating campaign links.
Create the source
Open Traffic sources → Create. Choose a suitable template or enter a custom source. A template is a starting point: compare its macros with the source's current documentation and the actual links generated in your account.
Configure the fields
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Name | A recognizable source or account name |
| External ID | The source's unique click identifier macro |
| Cost | The incoming cost macro, when supported |
| Tokens | Parameter name, source macro and reporting label |
| S2S postback | The source endpoint used to receive conversions |
Use distinct parameter names. A token label describes a reporting dimension; its value must be a macro the source actually expands. Do not place an API key in a public campaign URL.
Attach it to a campaign
Save the source, select it in the campaign, then copy the regenerated Campaign URL. Recheck links already installed in ads: changing a source template does not update links stored at another platform.
Test the values
Send one controlled visit with explicit test values. In Clicklog, check the external ID, placement or creative tokens and cost. Literal braces in the stored value often mean the source did not expand its macro. Configure outgoing postbacks only after the external ID is correct.
